Our Farm
Our Mission
Robinette Farms seeks to sustainably produce a diversity of high quality farm goods for sale locally. We strive to build a profitable business that minimizes off-farm inputs, reduces our detrimental impact on the environment, and educates our community about the food we eat and enjoy. Through hard work and managed, sustainable growth, we intend to create a farm that supports our family and community for generations to come.
The Land
In the fall of 2010 we moved to our current location in Martell, 15 minutes southwest of downtown Lincoln. Our land is currently not certifiably organic, but we can assure you that our growing practices are entirely organic. We believe that we cannot sustainably grow the highest quality produce for your family and ours without caring for the land and water that our farm is based on.
The property we are leasing is 113 acres, but we will only be using about 40 acres for our operation. We are growing vegetables intensively on about 6 acres and incorporating animals into our farm operation by raising a small herd of sheep, laying hens, pastured pigs, and honeybees.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a trendy word, but what does it really mean?
Here at Robinette, we're trying to define what sustainable means to us and to track our impact on the environment. We are currently working with a sustainability consultant to inventory our inputs in terms of energy, supplies, and materials so that we can find ways to minimize our use of limited resources.
During 2011, we will be establishing our baseline impact and in 2012 we hope to begin working towards our short and long term sustainability goals.
