How to make smoothies that are simple & healthy

Summer is here and the kids are home from school and when the weather is hot, a cold, refreshing smoothie is the perfect afternoon pick me up.


This simple 4-step how-to will keep your summer smoothies interesting, healthy, and tasty every time you make them.



The Formula for a Perfect Smoothie:


Step 1: CHOOSE YOUR LIQUID

  • water

  • kefir

  • nut milk (almond, cashew, etc)

  • hemp or coconut milk

  • iced tea

  • cow or goat milk

  • coconut water

  • green tea

  • coffee

  • fruit juice

Step 2: CHOOSE ONE FRUIT AND VEGGIE (fresh and/or frozen)

  • strawberries

  • blueberries

  • mango

  • peach

  • pineapple

  • cherries

  • banana

  • spinach

  • kale

  • chard

  • turnip/beet greens

  • micro greens

  • carrots

  • cucumber

  • cooked beets

Step 3: CHOOSE ONE PROTEIN OR FAT

  • cow or goat yogurt

  • peanut butter

  • almond butter

  • other nut butter

  • sunflower seeds

  • cashews/almonds/pecans/walnuts

  • pumpkin seeds

  • protein powder

Step 4: CHOOSE ONE BOOSTER INGREDIENT (optional)

  • cinnamon

  • turmeric

  • green powders

  • cacao

  • vanilla extract

  • almond extract

  • coffee

  • ginger

  • honey

  • avocado

  • chia seeds

  • flax seeds

Simply blend the ingredients in your favorite mixer and experiment with the proportions. Get creative!
